There is something about seeing the underwater world beneath you as you glide over the ocean waves that sets snorkeling apart as a sport. Imagine the silvery scales of a school of fish gleaming as the sun hits them through crystal clear waters. Imagine seeing a small parrot fish peeking out at you from behind a patch of coral. Imagine a translucent jellyfish bobbing to and fro just inches from your fingers. This whole seawater world can be yours if you snorkel.
Snorkeling is a sport that the whole family can participate in regardless of age, skill or fitness level. It is one of the easiest sports to take part in and becomes an experience that all family members can share together.
The age to start a child in learning to snorkel really depends on the child. The child should be comfortable in the water, of course, and at least show some interest in the sport. Before giving your child a true snorkeling adventure in tropical waters, you can start your child with the snorkel equipment in the bathtub at home, or in your home wading or swimming pool.
