Photography is a great hobby to start your kids in. Children love to see themselves and their loved ones in pictures. Think of how much more they will enjoy viewing photographs they took themselves!
There are a great variety of kid-friendly cameras available on the market today. You can get non-destructible cameras made for active children that take some pretty good pictures to get them started. They can advance to better camera equipment as they grow, which gives you years of valuable ideas for gifts for them at Christmas and birthday-time.
When kids start out taking pictures, don’t be too concerned about how good the pictures are or about the subject matter. The object to begin with is for them to have fun with the camera. What you may think is important for a picture, to a child may be totally different. For instance, you may see a great photo shot of Great-Aunt Mary beside the blossoming cherry tree, where a child’s idea of a fantastic photo would be a close-up of wart on her nose. Think of the laughter and joy that child will have with his photo rather than yours. And in years to come, won’t that be a great memory?
